Grand River Rehabilitation, Ltd. was established in 1989 by Judith Cloherty-Mayfield and Martha Frost.
After having a number of varied experiences in private sector insurance rehabilitation, they
recognized that active participation in the rehabilitation process by injured persons and their
representatives, other professionals, the insurance company representative, and employer is
vital in producing positive results. The Grand River Rehabilitation, Ltd. philosophy is
predicated on the facilitation of the rehabilitation process with clear, objective communication,
and through the team approach.
Grand River Rehabilitation, Ltd. recognizes that the injured person is ultimately responsible
for his or her own future. With that in mind, the consultants encourage participation,
support positive efforts, assist the injured person to establish achievable intermediate and
long term goals, and encourage development of motivation for positive change, while managing
the cost/benefit ratios important to all.
From the beginning, an honest, forthright, and objective assessment provides the stable
underpinnings necessary for a successful rehabilitation plan. Respect for the role of each
participant and recognition of both the scope and the limitations of the role of the
rehabilitation consultant is maintained. Constant re-evaluation of the progress is made by
both the consultant and his or her supervisor. Communication with all parties concerned is
initiated when changes in the plan are deemed necessary.
As Grand River Rehabilitation, Ltd. grows, new staff members are chosen who espouse this
philosophy in its entirety. The choices are based not only on the experience and knowledge the
consultants can contribute to the company, but on the integrity they have displayed in their
career histories. Ongoing trianing and exposure to new developments in the field are supported.
The insurance company representative, the injured person, the employer, as well as all other
members of the rehabilitation team can be assured that Grand River Rehabilitation, Ltd. will
continue to provide the consistent, objective, and forward reaching rehabilitation and case
management services and the communication they have come to expect.
